House Rules

These House Rules are in place to ensure the safety, comfort and respect of everyone at Subterra. By entering the premises, you agree to abide by the following terms:

1. Access & Safety

  1. Access to Subterra is 18+. Minors are only allowed under supervision of an adult who is responsible for them.
  2. The main entrance door closes automatically — never leave it open unattended. If you leave the door open, you are responsible for any resulting damage or theft.
  3. Keep hallways and emergency exits clear at all times. Do not leave equipment, bags or other items in the hallways.
  4. Smoking and vaping are prohibited everywhere in the building.
  5. When the fire alarm is triggered, a security company (Trigion) is alerted and will come to Subterra to inspect the situation. If the alarm was triggered through negligence (e.g. smoking), these costs — plus any costs for emergency services — will be charged to the person who triggered it.
  6. The elevator is for goods only and is used at your own risk. Maximum load: 350 kg (lift to level −1) and 250 kg (lift to level −2).

2. Studios & Tenants

  1. Tenants may host a maximum of four guests per studio at a time. Pick your guests up at the front door — you are responsible for their behavior, including any damage or theft.
  2. For more than four guests, request permission at least 48 hours in advance via info@subterra.space.
  3. Do not chain extension cords (fire risk). Turn equipment off when leaving. Keep your studio door closed while working to minimize noise.

3. De Kern & Visitors

  1. De Kern is a shared space and meeting point. Subterra hosts its public program here — events, classes and radio broadcasts. When the doors are open, you're welcome to enter; when closed, the space is not accessible.
  2. Guests are welcome in De Kern and the route to it. Other areas are accessible only when invited by a tenant.
  3. Follow instructions from staff and hosts at all times. Capacity limits are enforced for fire safety.
  4. Equipment in De Kern, including the radio booth, may only be used with Subterra's permission.
  5. Events may be recorded, photographed or broadcast (Subterra Radio).
  6. Organizing your own gathering in De Kern requires approval at least 48 hours in advance via info@subterra.space.
  7. Clean up after yourself and leave the space tidy for others.

4. Shared Facilities

  1. Keep the pantry and toilets clean and tidy after use.
  2. The pantry is for preparing sandwiches and reheating meals only — no cooking, no extra appliances such as stoves or sandwich makers.
  3. The fridge is for short-term use only. Unlabeled or expired items will be thrown away.
  4. Outside the building: keep the street clear and quiet — no loitering in groups, no litter or cigarette butts, no bicycles in front of the entrance.

5. Conduct

  1. Subterra strives to be an inclusive, creative and respectful environment where everyone feels welcome, safe and free to be themselves.
  2. Aggression, intimidation, discrimination, racism, sexual harassment, bullying, homophobia, transphobia, misogyny and any other disruptive behavior will not be tolerated. Appropriate measures will be taken. Report incidents or concerns via info@subterra.space.
  3. The use, trade, production or cultivation of drugs is prohibited.
  4. In case of theft, your access to Subterra will be immediately revoked and a police report will be filed.

6. Final Provisions

  1. Subterra is not liable for loss of or damage to personal belongings anywhere on the premises.
  2. Violation of these rules may result in a warning, charged damages or revoked access.
  3. Subterra reserves the right to amend these rules at any time.
  4. CCTV operates in shared areas for safety. Footage may be used in case of incidents — see our privacy policy for details.
